Option 4/Job Training Services
Option
4/Job Training programs help students with disabilities make
a successful transition from school to the world of work through
hands-on experiences in real-work settings. The Six District
Educational Compact offers two models of job training services.
One program provides students with Job Training Coordination
in community work settings. Students within two years of leaving
school may apply for Job Training Coordination.
Project Search, the second program, is a site-based job training
opportunity located at Summa Health System. Students who have
completed their academic credentials may apply for Project
Search.
In addition to work and employability skills gained through
participation in both programs, students also focus on attaining
a Career Passport, networking with adult services agencies
and transition planning for post-secondary opportunities and
support. Candidates for Option 4 programs should demonstrate
good attendance, be dependable and be able to get along with
others, as well as demonstrate a strong work ethic as indicated
in pre-employment school-based or community-based work experiences.
