Falls Marketing project featured in Wall Street Journal
When students in Marketing Management and Interactive Media/Design were asked to brainstorm money raising ideas for Cuyahoga Falls music and drama programs, no one thought the project would end up on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
A reporter spent time at the high school conducting interviews for the feature story, which detailed product placement and sponsorship deals by high schools around the country.
The College Tech Prep students came up with the concept of finding a sponsor for a walk-on role in “Grease,” Cuyahoga Falls' annual musical. Guys Pizza signed on and the owners' father appeared in a walk-on role. In addition, marketing students started social media accounts and organized an elementary coloring contest to increase interest.
According to Marketing teacher Emily Knight , ticket sales were up about $10,000 over the previous year.
