College Tech Prep Programs
A
national initiative, College Tech Prep
prepares
students for high-skill, high-wage careers demanded
by an increasingly competitive economy.
Students obtain the academic foundation they need
to succeed in college along with training in today's
newest technologies and real-world work experience.College
Tech Prep combines secondary and post-secondary
educational programs to provide high school students
with a seamless transition to a two-or four year
degree program. A collaboration among area
business, industry, labor, secondary schools and
colleges, College Tech Prep is designed to meet
workforce needs by providing academic and practical
training in high technology fields.
The
Six District Educational Compact offers three
College Tech Prep programs linked to the Akron
Area College Tech Prep Consortium:
1.
The Manufacturing
and Pre-Engineering Academy
2. A+ Certification
and Networking
3. Athletic
Health Care and Fitness
(Athletic Health Care and Fitness is linked
to both the Akron Area College Tech Prep
Consortium and the Kent Tech Prep Consortium)
Instruction in both of these two-year programs
is strongly focused on self-directed learning
and occurs through work teams, project-based
learning and portfolio design.
A
student who would benefit from a College Tech
Prep Program:

her learning.
