This two-year College Tech Prep program at Cuyahoga Falls High School, prepares students to take the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) exam, a standard in the industry enabling students to obtain the highly sought after CCNA certification.

Using an online curriculum supplied by Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in network technology, students learn the latest networking industry standards and technologies, including network design, set-up, hardware, maintenance, and administration.

In this College Tech Prep career pathway, A+ Certification and Networking links directly to an associate's degree in Computer Information Systems/Computer Maintenance and Networking Option at the University of Akron.

DESCRIPTION:
In this College Tech Prep career pathway, A+ Certification and Networking links directly to an associate's degree in Computer Information Systems/Computer Maintenance and Networking Option at the University of Akron.  As part of the Credit Banking option offered by the University of Akron, students enrolling in this associate's degree program may be eligible to purchase credits at a nominal rate.  Those enrolling directly into a bachelor's degree program can choose a minor in Computer Maintenance and Networking.
PROGRAM TIME PREREQUISITES
  • Two years
  • Two hours daily

Required:

  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Keyboarding skills
  • One college prep credit in science and English

Recommended:

  • Average G.P.A. of 2.5 for Algebra I, Geometry, English, and science for three previous semesters

  • Average 95% attendance for three previous semesters

  • Passing 9th grade proficiency test, all areas

  • Suggest taking Calculus, Chemistry, Physics and/or Trigonometry as a junior or senior
