is Work-Based Learning?
By
taking advantage of opportunities such as job shadowing,
mentorships and internships, Compact students get a
first hand look at the realities of a prospective career
choice.
Job
Shadowing: A student follows an employee
to learn about a particular occupation or industry and
gains insight into that career field.
Mentoring:
A student is paired with an employee
over an extended period. The employee helps the
student learn certain skills and models workplace behavior.
Internships:
A student works for an employer for
a specific time to learn about a particular industry
or occupation and gains skills in that career field.
