Culinary Arts and Catering

Students who complete this program will be able to qualify for National Restaurant Association sanitation and safety certification and go right into entry-level jobs and/or to higher education in the culinary field.  They can look forward to employment in restaurants and private clubs as a cook, server, menu planner or cashier. Or they might specialize in baking, salad preparation or cake decorating. 

Community-based partners such as Summa Health System, and Sumner on Ridgewood offer job shadowing and other worksite learning experiences.

Through an articulation agreement, graduates/completers may be eligible to receive college credit in Hospitality Management at the Community and Technical College of the University of Akron.  Other post-secondary training might include Johnson & Wales or the Culinary Institute of America.

DESCRIPTION:
If you are interested in working with the public, if you enjoy planning parties for special occasions, if you are creative and like to prepare food, you could be headed for a career in the Culinary Arts.  Students who complete this program will be able to qualify for National Restaurant Association sanitation and safety certification and go right into entry-level jobs and/or to higher education in the culinary field.  You can look forward to employment in restaurants and private clubs as a cook, server, menu planner or cashier.  Or you might specialize in baking, salad preparation or cake decorating.  You can participate in "Taste of Stow," Chef's Table in Hospitality Management at the University of Akron and other school-to-careers opportunities.
