Six District Educational Compact Adult Basic Literacy Education Program

Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) provides group and individualized instruction for improving reading, math, writing and language for any adult who needs to refresh these skills. ABLE includes G.E.D. preparation for those who wish to earn their Ohio High School Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).  Adults enrolled in an ABLE class who pass a practice test are eligible for a $55 fee waiver on the G.E.D. exam.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is for adults from other countries who want to test.

Workplace Readiness offers practice in skills needed for success on the job.  Workplace readiness is incorporated into all areas of the Compact ABLE program.

Family Learning provides opportunities for parents and children to learn together, through Summit Educational Link for Families (SELF).  Parents work on adult basic skills and G.E.D. preparation while their children take part in preschool learning activities.

Literacy offers one-on-one tutoring for beginning readers and English speakers. Classes are located at a number of sites in Cuyahoga Falls, Kent, Stow and Twinsburg.  Both day and evening classes are offered. Programs are open to anyone 18 years of age or older who does not have a high school diploma or who has graduated and wants to upgrade basic skills.  (16- and 17-year-olds may enroll only if officially withdrawn from school with and Age and Schooling Certificate.)
